Industrial & Commercial Electrical Testing

Electrical testing and inspection for factories, warehouses, commercial premises and public sector buildings across the UK.

Electrical Testing UK carries out electrical testing and inspection for industrial and commercial operators across the UK. Businesses have a legal duty under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 to ensure their electrical installations and equipment are maintained in a safe condition. Our qualified engineers carry out thorough testing programmes across all types of industrial and commercial premises, working around your operational schedule to minimise disruption, and providing clear reports and certification to support your compliance obligations.

Key Features Include

Industrial and Commercial Coverage

We test factories, warehouses, offices, retail premises and public sector buildings, with engineers experienced in complex industrial installations.

Scheduled Around Your Operations

We work around your schedule, including evenings, weekends and overnight testing where required, to keep disruption to an absolute minimum.

Comprehensive Testing Programmes

We carry out EICRs, PAT testing, thermographic surveys and earth testing under a single contract, simplifying your compliance management.

Clear Reports and Certification

Every visit produces clear written reports and certification in a format suitable for your health and safety records and insurers.

Remedial Work Available

Where testing identifies faults, Electrical Testing UK carries out remedial work directly — no need to manage a separate contractor.

Electrical Testing Services for Industrial and Commercial Premises

Electrical Installation Condition Reports for Industrial Sites Industrial electrical installations require a higher level of technical competence to inspect than standard commercial premises. Our engineers carry out EICRs on industrial sites thoroughly and accurately, identifying deterioration and safety deficiencies that less experienced inspectors may overlook. Industrial installations should be tested at intervals not exceeding three years under BS 7671.

Electrical Installation Condition Reports for Commercial Premises We carry out commercial EICRs for offices, retail units, restaurants and hotels of all sizes, working around your opening hours to minimise disruption. All inspections are documented and certified with clear guidance on any remedial work required.

PAT Testing for Industrial and Commercial Equipment Employers have a legal duty under the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 to maintain electrical equipment in a safe condition. We carry out PAT testing programmes for industrial and commercial clients, testing all classes of portable equipment and producing a full asset register with results for every item.

Thermographic Surveys for Electrical Installations Thermographic surveys use thermal imaging to identify hotspots including loose connections, overloaded circuits and failing components before they cause equipment failure or fire. We survey distribution boards, switchgear and motor control centres, producing photographic reports with findings and recommendations.

Earth Electrode and Earthing System Testing We carry out earth electrode resistance testing, protective conductor continuity testing and equipotential bonding verification for industrial sites, providing results and recommendations that support your compliance and maintenance records.

Power Factor Correction Testing and Assessment Poor power factor increases energy costs and reduces available supply capacity. We assess actual power factor under operational load conditions and recommend correction equipment where it would deliver measurable cost or capacity benefits.

Fixed Wire Testing for Multi-Site Commercial Estates We manage fixed wire testing programmes for facilities managers and property teams across multiple sites, with scheduled visits, consistent reporting and a single point of contact for the full portfolio.

The Industrial and Commercial Electrical Testing Process

Pre-test site assessment for complex industrial premises For larger industrial premises where the scope and complexity of the installation require more detailed planning, we carry out a pre-test site visit to assess the installation, agree the testing programme and identify any access, isolation or safety requirements before the testing date. This ensures that the testing visit runs efficiently and that all areas of the installation are covered without unexpected delays.

Scheduling testing to minimise operational disruption We work with your operations or facilities team to schedule electrical testing at times that minimise disruption to production or business operations. For manufacturing and processing sites where continuous operation is critical, we can schedule testing in sections, isolating and testing individual circuits or distribution boards while the rest of the installation remains live. Out-of-hours testing including evenings, weekends and planned shutdown periods is available for sites where daytime access is not practical.

Carrying out testing safely in complex environments Industrial environments present specific safety challenges, working near live high-current equipment, in areas with hazardous processes, in confined spaces or in environments with specific isolation and permit-to-work requirements. Our engineers are experienced in working safely within industrial safety management systems and can operate within your site’s permit-to-work procedures and safe systems of work.

Reporting findings and recommending remedial action On completion of testing we provide a clear written report covering all test results, the condition of the installation, any C1, C2 or C3 observations and the recommended remedial actions with priority ratings. For multi-site programmes, reports are produced in a consistent format that supports portfolio-level compliance management. Where remedial work is required, we provide a written quote and can carry out the work ourselves.

Why Industrial and Commercial Operators Choose Electrical Testing UK

Experience in complex industrial environments Our engineers have the technical competence and practical experience to test complex industrial electrical installations accurately and safely. We are not a domestic testing company that also offers commercial services, industrial and commercial testing is a core part of what we do.

Comprehensive testing under one contract We carry out EICRs, PAT testing, thermographic surveys, earth testing and power factor assessment, reducing the number of contractors you need to manage and ensuring all testing is coordinated and documented consistently.

Scheduled around your operations We plan all testing programmes around your operational requirements, with out-of-hours testing available where required. We understand that unplanned downtime has a direct cost to your business and we work hard to ensure our testing programmes do not create it.

Qualified engineers, not subcontractors All industrial and commercial testing is carried out by our own NICEIC-qualified engineers. We do not subcontract testing visits, so you get consistent quality and direct accountability on every project.

Multi-site programme management For facilities managers and property teams managing electrical compliance across multiple sites, we offer coordinated testing programmes with consistent standards, scheduled visits and consolidated documentation under a single contract.
