Solar PV and Battery Storage Installation for Domestic and Commercial Properties
Solar PV Installation for Domestic Properties A domestic solar PV system reduces the amount of electricity drawn from the grid during daylight hours, directly lowering energy bills and providing a return through the Smart Export Guarantee for surplus power exported to the grid. We carry out domestic solar PV installations for homeowners and landlords, handling roof survey, system design, DNO notification, installation and certification. Systems are sized to the available roof space and the household’s energy consumption, and all installations are MCS certified.
Battery Storage Installation for Domestic Properties Battery storage allows homeowners to store the surplus generation that would otherwise be exported, making it available for use in the evening and overnight. We install battery storage systems for domestic properties both alongside new solar PV installations and as retrofits to existing systems, with EPS functionality included as standard to provide power during outages.
Solar PV and Battery Installation for Commercial and Industrial Sites Commercial and industrial operators with significant daytime energy consumption benefit most from solar PV, with the system sized to offset as much of the site’s consumption as possible during generation hours. Battery storage further reduces grid dependency by shifting generation to periods of peak consumption or peak tariff rates. Retrofit Battery Storage for Existing Solar PV Systems Many solar PV systems installed under the Feed-in Tariff were installed without battery storage, with surplus generation exported to the grid at a low rate. Retrofitting battery storage to these systems allows owners to use a much greater proportion of their own generation, increasing the financial return from the existing installation. We assess existing systems for battery retrofit suitability, specify appropriate storage capacity and inverter equipment, and carry out the installation and commissioning.
Solar PV and Battery Installation Process from Survey to Commissioning
Site survey and system design We carry out a site survey to assess roof orientation, pitch, shading and structural suitability, and to confirm the capacity of the existing electrical installation to accommodate the solar PV system and battery storage. Based on the survey and the site’s energy consumption data, we design a system sized to maximise the financial return from generation and storage within the constraints of the available roof space and supply capacity.
Installation and grid connection We install the panel array, mounting system, DC cabling, inverter, battery storage and AC connection using our own qualified engineers. Where a DNO application is required for grid connection, we manage the application and coordinate the connection. All DC and AC circuits are installed to BS 7671 and all equipment is installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s requirements and MCS standards.
Commissioning and certification On completion the system is commissioned and tested, with inverter and battery management system configuration verified and generation monitoring confirmed operational. We issue an Electrical Installation Certificate covering the AC installation and MCS certification for the solar PV system, and register the installation with the relevant bodies to ensure eligibility for Smart Export Guarantee payments where applicable.
