The Solar PV Testing Process. Inspection, Testing and Reporting
Visual inspection of the array and system components We carry out a full visual inspection of the panel array, mounting structure, DC cabling and connections, inverter, AC isolators and generation meter. We check for physical damage, soiling, shading, loose or corroded connections, cable deterioration and any signs of overheating or moisture ingress. The visual inspection identifies faults and conditions that affect both safety and performance before electrical testing begins.
Electrical testing of the DC and AC circuits We carry out electrical testing of the DC circuits including open-circuit voltage, short-circuit current and insulation resistance testing of the strings, verifying that each string is performing within the expected parameters for the panels installed. We test the AC circuits from inverter to grid connection, verifying correct operation of protection devices and confirming that the inverter output is within specification.
Reporting and recommendations On completion we provide a written report covering all inspection findings, electrical test results, identified faults and performance issues, and recommended remedial actions prioritised by urgency. Where thermographic imaging has been carried out, thermal images of the array are included in the report.
